City Motto: Alaska's First City!

Ketchikan History: This city is nestled on 3 square acres of land on Rivillagigedo Island. Located in Southeast Alaska. The city started when a local entrepreneur, named Snow, built a salmon saltery. This first seafood business lead to further development of seafood processing in Ketchikan. The city was incorporated in the 1900's and by 1936 was thriving with 7 canneries. Industry in Ketchikan has always involved fishing, timber and mining resources. The economy today in Ketchikan still relies heavily on these valuable resources.

Weather: Summers are warm and pleasant here with averages of 65 degrees and highs that reach in to the nineties. Winters are a bit colder with averages of 35-40 degrees.
