Bethel's History: Bethel was first established as a village by Yupik Eskimos. In 1905 the first post office was built in Bethel starting this small village on its way to flourishing into a central hub for the 56 surrounding villages of the Y-K Delta (Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta) . Bethel provided the ideal place for the trading of local arts, furs and fish.

Weather: Bethel has an average yearly snowfall of 50 inches. Winter temperatures average the low teens while summer temp's average in the high 50's to low 60's.
